The dream-project of Mandd Sobhann, KALAANGANN is the culmination of pioneering work since 1986. It marks the gradual maturity of Mandd Sobhann from being a performance-oriented group to becoming an academically motivated body – in fact a synthesis of both.

KALAANGANN directs its efforts on grooming young talents and inculcating cultural values in the young in a profound manner so that future generations shall be the torch – bearers of our unique cultural heritage.

Objectives

KALAANGANN is established as a centre –

  • To preserve, promote, propagate and enrich Konkani language and culture,
  • To conduct academic activities such as – workshops, seminars, experimentations and camps to make Konkani relevant to modern times.
  • To undertake Research & Documentation for the scientific study of Konkani language, literature, history and traditions, culture and heritage.
  • To facilitate the learning and training in – Konkani language, performing arts, folklore and folk arts, offering both short & long term courses, residential and otherwise.
  • To present and display the best in Konkani Performing Arts and folk arts (of Konkanis of all denominations, regions and dialects).
  • To ensure the continuity and the transmission of Konkani language and heritage to future generations.
